Confirmation

Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation. The other two are baptism and the Eucharist.

Confirmation is a sign that a person has reached maturity and is now able to take responsibility for their own faith. It strengthens and deepens the connection to the Church that is made at baptism.

The sacrament of confirmation typically takes place in early teenage years, when a child starts to be seen as an adult member of the Church. This is because they are now considered old enough to renew and confirm for themselves vows that were made on their behalf when they were baptised.

Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered in school twice a year to both pupils and staff. This takes place during Advent and Lent and is introduced by a short penitential service to prepare pupils to receive this very important Sacrament. These are grace – filled moments, an opportunity to respond to God’s invitation to repent and change our lives for the better; a good time to allow our hearts to be healed and transformed by God’s mercy in confession. All staff and students are welcome. A significant number of pupils and staff take this opportunity to pause and reflect and examine their relationship with God and others.

During Lent, over 80 pupils from all year groups, participated in the beautiful sacrament of reconciliation. It's very moving to see the young members of our community seeking forgiveness.
